We Have A Four Year Old!

April 2nd, 2007, 7:38am, after 2 hours of prep time and 8 minutes of surgery, they showed me Anderson's face for the first time and I thought, "Hmmm, yep, it's a baby." I was surprised that there wasn't an instant bond that everyone talks about. Maybe it was the fact that I couldn't hold him, or that I was still being surgically put back together or that it would be nearly three hours later when I would see him again. I don't know. All I know is that it took a little while to bond with him. Not too long though. In fact, that very night I didn't want to take him back to the nursery because I just knew that nurse wouldn't take care of him the way I would and that other crying baby in there would prevent him from sleeping well. Mama bear had kicked in. There's nothing like that bond with your first baby. I think he'll always be my baby. Sorry Anderson. We love you and are so glad you are in our family. Happy Birthday!
